Jimmy John - the 'unicorn'

The very short tale of Sufjan Steven's childhood one-horned goat.

If you're anything like me, after this tale, you'll never perceive unicorns (or goats!) in the same manner.

On the 30th August 2015, at Edinburgh's Playhouse, I attended the opening of Sufjan's 'Carrie & Lowell' tour, the very reason of my trip.

Needless to say, the concert was beautiful and left everyone in the room emotional - at least the ones with a beating heart - due to the autobiographical subject of the album, which dwells on Sufjan's loss of his mother: firstly to mental illness, then physical absence, and lastly, to her passing away in 2012.

At the encore, a very humorous Stevens tells the story of his childhood unicorn: Jimmy John.
Sufjan's family had a habit I can deeply relate to - rescuing unwanted animals - and one of them was a one-horned goat.
As animal welfare is my biggest love and I particularly love goats, I couldn't prevent myself from including this very short story on the website.

As such, I've included four animal rescue centres which cater to the welfare of goats, giving them a second lease of life.
Make a goat happy. Help a goat like Jimmy John the unicorn.
